I’ve come to a point in my life where my stomach is so stupid that the only thing I truly enjoy eating are vegetables. I feel full and warm and I don’t suffer as I do with almost everything else. I love pasta more than anything else on this planet, but it hurts too. Bread hurts. Almost all kind of meat hurts. Fish is pretty ok usually. Everything sweet hurts. So sad. I want a new stomach where can I buy one.
Sometimes I think about life and really miss orange juice and fresh tomatoes. We have some sweet and ripe oranges in italy. I miss everything about oranges, the smell, the taste, dirtying my hands while peeling them and how you can take a tiny bite and suck the juice while eating. And yess some freshly squeezed orange juice ):
“science materially benefits humanity but art doesn’t” is such a load of bullshit not least of all because most science does not materially benefit anyone. A huge amount of science is about knowledge for knowledge’s sake and has never/likely will never lead to any sort of new drug or cure or technology. and that’s okay!
imo art and science comes from the same basic impulse to explore and they both benefit the soul of our culture and our humanity and they have value even if we never cure cancer or write the great american novel or whatever.
let the engineers and the funding agencies worry about material benefits
